Classified Volume Count measures vehicle volume at a location, broken down by vehicle type — two-wheeler, car, LCV, bus, truck — typically in 15-minute intervals across a survey period. It’s one of the most fundamental traffic datasets: nearly every downstream engineering decision, from road capacity assessment to pavement design, depends on knowing not just how much traffic uses a stretch of road, but what kind.
Traditionally, CVC surveys are run manually — a person with a tally sheet or clicker, counting for a fixed duration, then extrapolating. This works, but it’s limited by how long a human can reliably count without fatigue-driven errors, and by how many locations can be staffed at once.
AI-based CVC removes both constraints — continuous counting, consistent classification criteria applied to every vehicle, and coverage that scales with camera deployment rather than staffing.
